JICC starts out as an informal volunteer effort to focus attention on journalism in crisis.

Not yet registered, JICC builds a coalition of journalists and journalism resources including citizen journalists and all supporters of ethical, independent news.

First task: building numbers through social networks.

UPDATE APRIL 2010

Close to 200 members have signed up on the JICC page at the Development Networks Communication Initiative, see:

Not so many on Facebook - just 27.

Part of the problem is working out differences within and between various social networks. An example is Facebook with "causes", "pages" and "profiles" all offering different ways of highlighting an issue.
